41-year-old Joshua Kunz allegedly rammed into a Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) vehicle on the evening of October 29, 2025, and then fled the scene.
According to Sergeant Aymee Race with the Unified Police Department (UPD), officers with the UPD spotted Kunz in a vehicle and attempted to stop him in the area of 200 South State Street around 9:05 p.m. tonight.
Sergeant Race stated that Kunz is a fugitive from the Adult Probation and Parole division and officers decided to detain him due to his threat to the public.
Kunz allegedly took off again and led police on a chase through Midvale and Sandy. He made it to Midvalley Drive in West Jordan, before losing control of his vehicle.
Notably, there was a power outage in the same area, though it was reportedly unrelated to the chase.
In another attempt to flee the scene, Kunz rammed into several parked cars. Fortunately, nobody was injured and law enforcement was able to take him into custody around 9:15 p.m. tonight.
Officer with the Unified Police Department, Department of Public Safety, and West Jordan Police Department all assisted in locating and detaining Kunz.
Kunz will be booked into jail and is reportedly facing several charges, though UPD has not yet confirmed what those charges will be.
