Lucas Oil prepares for a busy year of concerts in 2026

INDIANAPOLIS — 2026 is setting up to be a big year for music in Indiana.

This week, Morgan Wallen announced he will return to Indianapolis on the 2nd weekend of May. How does Lucas Oil Stadium keep luring in the big names?

Right around this time last year, Swifties descended upon Indianapolis for the final three U.S. shows of the Era’s tour, breaking attendance records for the venue. A handful of other headliners graced the stage this past year.

“We had an amazing run of eight concert nights in nine months, from the middle of 2024 to early 2025, finishing off with Billy Joel earlier this year,” said Eric Neuburger, general manager for Lucas Oil.

Artists like George Strait, Chris Stapleton and P!nk also performed inside the 70,000-seat arena.

“To be able to play a stadium show, you have to be a very big act, couple that with there’s other big markets in the Midwest and these are national tours, it’s very competitive out there to get the great shows,” said Neuburger.

Live Nation, AEG and Messina Touring Group are the big three that Lucas Oil works with to bring major names in the music industry.

“All three of those support really big acts that tour globally, and when we get the opportunity to become part of those tours, we get very excited,” he said.

Event organizers said that concerts alone bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars for the city each year.

”I think the history that we have, and recent history, in really putting on a great experience for the artist, their tour promoter, and the guests that come to Indianapolis, really put us on the map and will continue to drive us forward in getting more great concerts in Indianapolis,” said Neuburger.

Looking ahead to 2026, Ed Sheeran’s already announced his debut in the Circle City for his Loop tour come October.

”Coupled with the two shows for Morgan Wallen, we’re now at three concert nights for 2026 in Lucas Oil Stadium and hopefully we’re not done yet,” he said.

Bookings for shows in 2027 are already in the works as well.
