Holiday movie nights return to L.A. with outdoor screenings, historic mansion tours

A winter-themed movie series will take over Los Angeles’ Heritage Square Museum and offer outdoor screenings of holiday classics surrounded by Victorian homes, simulated snowfall and seasonal drinks.

Starting Saturday, Nov. 29, the annual Yuletide Cinemaland features themed double features like “Elf” and “A Christmas Story,” “The Santa Clause” and “Home Alone,” plus anniversary screenings of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Screenings take place on the grounds of Heritage Square Museum, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the first film starting around 6:30 p.m. A second showing begins between 8:15 and 9 p.m., organizers said.

Street Food Cinema’s Yuletide event is seen with audiences watching a screening of “Home Alone.”

Each night includes festive extras such as costume contests, cookies and hot chocolate, and on select dates, pajama party nights with giveaways and themed drinks. Guests are encouraged to dress in holiday sweaters or sleepwear, depending on the night’s theme.

The event, now in its eighth year, is produced by the team behind Street Food Cinema, and transforms the outdoor space into a temporary winter attraction with snowfall effects, food trucks, and seasonal cocktails available for purchase.

Visitors can arrive early for Victorian home tours, but the focus remains on holiday movies and a communal viewing experience built around fan favorites.

Ticket prices are $34 for adults and $18 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and under are admitted free. Seating is first-come, first-served. Parking ranges from $22.99 to $32.99 per vehicle and is limited.
