As mobile scams continue to evolve with advanced AI-powered techniques, Google has reinforced Android’s multi-layered defense system to combat these threats.

The company released comprehensive findings on October 30, 2025, demonstrating that Android’s AI-driven protections significantly outperform competing platforms in safeguarding users against fraudulent calls and messages that have cost consumers over $400 billion globally in the past year.

Android’s proactive defense infrastructure processes over 10 billion suspected malicious calls and messages monthly, with Google’s continuous safety checks blocking more than 100 million suspicious numbers from using RCS in recent weeks alone.

The platform’s effectiveness stems from intelligent, on-device AI systems that analyze patterns in real-time without storing sensitive user data on servers, ensuring both security and privacy.

The disparity widened dramatically for Pixel versus iPhone, with iPhone users 150% more likely to report complete ineffectiveness in blocking mobile fraud.

Counterpoint Research, a global technology market research firm, evaluated current flagship devices and identified Android’s comprehensive AI-powered safeguards across ten critical protection categories, including email security, browsing protection, and behavioral analysis.

iOS devices, by contrast, offered AI-powered defenses in only two categories, highlighting a substantial protection gap.

Leviathan Security Group conducted a funded evaluation comparing the Pixel 10 Pro, iPhone 17, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Motorola Razr+ 2025.

Their analysis concluded that Android smartphones, led by the Pixel 10 Pro, deliver the highest level of default scam and fraud prevention.

Researchers specifically noted Android’s robust call screening capabilities, sophisticated scam detection algorithms, and real-time authentication warnings as critical differentiators against fraudulent schemes.

Google Messages automatically filters known spam by analyzing sender reputation and message content, isolating suspicious texts before they reach your inbox.

For complex threats, Scam Detection employs on-device AI to identify conversational scam patterns, such as pig butchering schemes, delivering real-time warnings while maintaining user privacy.

Phone by Google extends protection to voice communications, automatically blocking known spam calls and deploying Call Screen to identify fraudsters on your behalf.

The platform’s real-time Scam Detection analyzes conversational patterns during calls and actively prevents high-risk actions like untrusted app installations while warning users of unauthorized screen sharing.

Google continuously updates these protections through Google Play Protect’s real-time app scanning and enhanced Safe Browsing in Chrome, ensuring Android maintains its defensive edge against evolving mobile threats.
