Arkansas Storm Team Blog: Super Hunter's Moon next week
The full moon peaks on Wednesday, November 5. It’ll peak in illumination on Wednesday morning. This means it’ll be at its fullest point on Wednesday morning. It’ll still appear big and full on Wednesday evening, expected to rise over Little Rock at 5:06 p.m. Wednesday. The sunset time in Little Rock is at 5:11 p.m., meaning viewing should be great for the full moon.
The Hunter’s Moon isn’t only special for taking place in November this year, but it’s also a supermoon. A supermoon means the moon is in its closest approach to Earth in its orbit around Earth. A supermoon can occur with a full moon or a new moon. A super full moon appears slightly bigger and brighter.
This supermoon is the second in a series of 4 super full moons. The first in the series was October’s Super Harvest Moon. After November’s Hunter’s Supermoon, the next supermoon is December’s Cold Moon.
