‘All signs point to it being a murder’: Musk calls out OpenAI’s Altman on Rogan podcast

(KRON) — Tesla CEO Elon Musk discussed the alleged suicide of OpenAI whistleblower Suchir Balaji on Joe Rogan’s latest podcast Friday, saying that Open AI CEO Sam Altman appeared guilty in a recent interview with Tucker Carlson.

“I don’t know if he’s guilty, but it’s not possible to look more guilty,” Musk said about Altman on the Joe Rogan Experience.

Balaji — a former OpenAI engineer who helped train the artificial intelligence systems behind ChatGPT and claimed that they violated copyright law — committed suicide at his San Francisco apartment in November of 2024, according to authorities. He was 26 years old.

Musk went on to say that, based on the evidence, “all signs point to it being a murder.” And suggested that the case be further investigated.

“His parents think he was murdered,” Musk said. “The wires to his security camera were cut. Blood in two rooms, someone else’s wig was in the room … and he ordered DoorDash right before allegedly committing suicide, which seems unusual.”

Musk said that it seems “unlikely” Balaji killed himself.

“People that I know who knew him said he was not suicidal,” Musk said.

Musk ended the segment by saying publicly announcing that he is “never committing suicide, ever.”

Balaji’s death isn’t the first conspiracy theory the billionaire has discussed publicly. In 2022, he tweeted a link to a rumor about the attack on San Francisco congresswoman and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband.

The discussion starts around 4 minutes and 30 seconds into the podcast.
