MnDOT crews are fixing an overpass bridge in Spring Lake Park after a semi carrying a metal pedestrian bridge hit it on Tuesday.
The incident happened just before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, on southbound Highway 65 and the County Road 10 bridge. When the semi got to the County 10 overpass bridge, the trailer hit the bridge deck and disconnected from the semi, MnDOT said. Then another vehicle hit the trailer.
No one was hurt in the crash, but the bridge was damaged and needs some repairs, although MnDOT inspectors determined the bridge was safe to carry traffic.
The loop ramp from northbound Highway 65 to County Road 10 is closed, along with the right lane and shoulder of the westbound bridge, for MnDOT to determine the repairs and make them, which could take months, the press release says.
