‘Very concerned’: Beaverton police say these 2 friends have been missing for over a month

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Beaverton police are asking for the community’s help locating two missing men.

Eddie Hair, 67, and Scott Smith, 68, have been missing for over a month.

Officials say the two friends, who were last seen on September 13, were believed to be preparing for an outdoor trip, possibly involving searching for rare rocks on the Oregon Coast or in Central Oregon.

Police say the two men may be in a 2005 red Jeep Wrangler with Oregon license plate 494QKW and the last cell phone activity on either of their devices was on Sept. 23. There has also been no bank activity or flight records for Hair and Smith.

“One person goes missing, maybe they want to be missing. We have two community members missing,” said Matt Henderson with the Beaverton Police Department. “We are very concerned something has happened to Scott and Eddie, just simply because of the nature of this type of case.”

“It’s just gotten to the point where we know something is going on. He’s nowhere to be found, he’s not answering his phone. This has never happened before,” added Hair’s former partner Katrina Pickle.

Pickle also said both men take medication for ongoing health issues and that they left without their medicine, camping gear and cold-weather clothes.

Anyone with information about Hair and Smith’s whereabouts is asked to contact Beaverton police.
