South Bay authorities search for at-large convicted child molester

(KRON) — A convicted criminal is on the run in the South Bay, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. The law enforcement agency announced Wednesday it is searching for 57-year-old Samuel Martinez of San Jose.

He stands 5-foot-7, weighs 237 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Martinez was previously convicted of child molestation and assault with intent to commit rape, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect is currently at large for assault with a deadly weapon and failing to register as a sex offender.

He was last seen in downtown San Jose, authorities said.
