Child dies from gunshot wound in Haskell County

Around 3:00 p.m. on October 29, emergency crews responded to a call from the child’s mother, reporting that her 22-month-old had suffered a gunshot wound.

First responders met the mother as she was driving from Weinert toward Haskell Memorial Hospital. The child was transferred to an ambulance for emergency treatment, but later died at the hospital.

The Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation. No further information has been released at this time.
