Cargill announced on Wednesday that it will be laying off dozens of employees at its Wayzata facility at the end of this year.
The State Rapid Response Team (SRRT) received a letter from Cargill stating that 80 employees would be permanently laid off at its Wayzata facility, which includes workers attached to the Office Center.
The layoffs will begin on Dec. 31, with all impacted employees receiving at least 60 days’ advance notice of their separation date. SRRT stated that employees affected by the layoffs will also be offered outplacement services.
Cargill said that this is part of the “overall transformation, strategy, and restructuring” announced last December. The company added that the impacts are in select professional areas and not in plant facilities/front-line workers.
Below is a statement in part from Cargill:
“We continue to align resources and talent to our most critical priorities: staying competitive, delivering for our customers and performing against our strategy. As part of this effort, we have made the difficult decision to reduce roles in select professional areas. We are deeply grateful to our colleagues affected and are committed to supporting them with care and respect through this transition.”
