Walmart announces Black Friday, Cyber Monday plans

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Walmart announced plans this week for its busiest shopping season of the year.

In a release, the Bentonville-based retailer says it will host three separate holiday shopping events this year:

  • Walmart will offer Black Friday deals from November 14-16 online and in stores.
  • Next, the retailer will have a hybrid Black Friday event that begins online November 25-27 and then finishes online and in stores from November 28-30.
  • Cyber Monday deals will be available to internet shoppers on December 1.

Walmart+ members will get early access to all of these events one day before the official start at 6 p.m. CT.

“For years, Walmart has owned Black Friday — and this year we’re proving why. We’re dropping up to 60% off top brands and offering thousands of deals under $20, making it clear: nobody does low prices like we do,” John Furner, president and CEO, Walmart U.S., said in the release. “Just like our Thanksgiving Meal Basket we’re leading on convenience and rewriting what value looks like, helping customers have their best, brightest and most budget-friendly holiday yet.”

Some of the big ticket items that will be featured during these sales include electronics like a 98″ Google TV, jewelry, popular toys – including LEGO sets and trampolines, a Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner, men’s and women’s apparel, and more.

The items will be advertised at markdowns as much as 60% off.

To promote its Walmart Deals events and celebrations all season long, Walmart recently unveiled WhoKnewVille, a Dr. Seuss-inspired world that will be everywhere customers already are — in their feeds, their living rooms, and even in virtual worlds. The magic of WhoKnewVille will bring a little green holiday mischief to Black Friday, courtesy of one of the holiday’s most beloved characters, turning “who knows?” into “who knew!” for customers.
