
One of those ways is through the United Way of Central West Virginia’s 211 hotline.
The hotline is available 24/7 for those seeking access to free assistance when it comes to not only food, but counseling, disaster assistance and housing.
United Way of Central West Virginia’s community impact director, Kerri Cooper, said that the organization has been working closely with all nonprofits in the region to get the proper support for those in need. She said that the hotline has been getting a lot of calls in recent days, so for anyone who leaves a message, she says they will receive a call back as soon as possible.
“You can text 211, you can text 898 211, you can text your zip code to that and you don’t have to speak to a person if that’s not your thing,” Cooper said. “Just give us a little bit of grace. We are being inundated with calls. We will call you back. It may take a minute, but you will be called back.”
