
Jonathan Van “JV” Kennedy, of LaGrange, died at the age of 54. He died on Sunday, according to the Higgins Funeral Home.
Kennedy proudly served the LaGrange community as a sergeant in the Civil Division of the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.
Before joining the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, he was a training officer and corporal with the LaGrange Police Department.
In his early years, Kennedy worked with Stewart Harvard at Marengo Farms, which led to a lifelong love of training dogs, according to Higgins Funeral Home.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his his wife, Karen Armstrong Kennedy; daughter, Abbie Kennedy Milliman (Hunter); stepchildren, Sarah Pauley (Will), Anna Jackson (Colson), Emma King (Lewis), and Jimmie Jackson; grandchildren, Anders Milliman, Blake Milliman, and Hadleigh King; sister, Kristin Kennedy (Wendy); brother, Matthew Kennedy; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Connie Armstrong; and his beloved canine companions, Kori and Sage. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends, according to Higgins Funeral Home.
Kennedy was reportedly an avid Auburn fan and enjoyed NASCAR and hunting.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand, according to funeral home officials.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel.
