
According to Salt Lake City Police Department, one suspect is deceased after police responded to reports of an assault just after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning near 2100 South and 300 West.
Andon Christiansen, a deputy chief with the Salt Lake City Police Department, told ABC4 that the incident began after officers received reports of an urgent assault, believed to be a fight, in the area.
Christiansen says officers arrived at the scene and encountered a man who was “armed with a rock.” Two officers engaged the suspect and at least one shot was fired.
An officer was injured during the incident with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer is currently being treated at the hospital.
The incident is currently under investigation. Christiansen told ABC4 that the West Jordan Police Department will be conducting the investigation.
