MoDOT to hold community briefing about new bridge over Bull Shoals Lake at Theodosia
MoDOT Project Manager Donna Philpot says “We’re currently gathering data on the existing environmental conditions.”
Philpot noted public interest in the project, especially with survey work underway and the historic bridge being offered for reuse through MoDOT’s free bridges webpage, is high.
Philpott says “The environmental and conceptual study will tentatively wrap-up in summer 2026. Next, we will progress into the design phase with construction beginning as early as fall 2028.”
While a preferred alternative hasn’t yet been identified, a key consideration is how construction could impact motorists.
Philpott explains “We are still early in this process, but the study is looking at ways to build a new bridge while keeping the existing structure open.”
The community briefing will be open-house style, and visitors can stop by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m.
For more information, please contact MoDOT Project Manager Donna Philpot at (573) 472-5347 or MoDOT’s Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK MODOT (275-6636).
