Baby found abandoned at I-580 crash scene in East Bay: CHP
Before CHP officers were aware of the baby and crash, officers spotted a woman who was walking on I-580. Officers questioned the woman, “backtracked to the scene, and located an injured one year-old child,” the CHP wrote.
Investigators said they determined that the woman was the driver who crashed, and she had walked away from her mangled car without taking the baby. “The saddest part of the incident is a one-year-old child was left at the scene. Thankfully, the child will be okay. The woman will be facing multiple charges,” the CHP wrote.
Law enforcement officials did not release the driver’s name on Tuesday.
The CHP Dublin Office is urging all drivers against driving under the influence, which “causes major judgment issues.”
The CHP continued, “Impairment is not limited to alcohol. Prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs and cannabis products can all affect a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely. Not only do you put yourself at risk, but you also endanger others. Make responsible choices behind the wheel.”
