
The proud father is Goomba, and the zoo says both mother and babies are doing well. The pups mark an exciting milestone in the zoo’s capybara breeding program, which is managed under the Species Survival Plan (SSP) through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The SSP works to ensure responsible breeding and maintain genetic diversity among zoo populations.
Marigold, another pregnant capybara at the zoo, is expected to give birth in the coming weeks.
Visitors can keep an eye out for updates, and maybe even some baby capybara sightings, as the zoo shares more on Buttercup, Goomba, and Marigold’s growing families.
