According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called around 11 a.m. Tuesday to the 1600 block of Englewood Drive on report of a person stabbed. This is a residential area near 16th Street and Shadeland Avenue.

After they located the stabbing victim on Englewood Drive, officers found a second individual who had been injured during the incident in the 1600 block of Shadeland Avenue. The second victim, who IMPD as identified as an adult male, had cuts on his hands. Medics transported the man to an area hospital in stable condition after police found him.
IMPD indicated that investigators later detained the man they found on Shadeland Avenue. After consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, police released the man from their custody.
During their investigation, detectives determined the stabbing was likely the result of some sort of disturbance between family members that had taken place inside a home located along Englewood Drive.

MCCO will help police determine the decedent’s exact manner and cause of death.
