Video shows dramatic rescue of woman from car submerged in South Carolina pond
The video, provided by Eric Maher, shows the dramatic rescue unfolding along Highway 17 Bypass in front of Hamrick’s department store. It happened at about 2:45 p.m.
The video shows rescuers pulling the woman out of the car through the driver’s side window and carrying her safely to a grassy area next to the pond. The woman and two bystanders who assisted in the rescue were evaluated by medics, but no one was taken to the hospital, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.
The incident, which also involved another crash, blocked lanes of Highway 17 Bypass while crews worked in the area, HCFR said. No one was hurt in the crash.
An HCFR dive team assisted by hooking up a line to the woman’s car so it could be pulled out of the water by a tow truck. The South Carolina Highway Patrol were investigating the incident Tuesday.
