PROVO, Utah (ABC4) — Earlier this afternoon, two children were hit by a car while playing, and a three-year-old died from their injuries.
According to a news release from the Provo Police Department, the driver apparently did not see that there were children playing in the area, and two young children, a four-year-old and a three-year-old, were struck by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with police officers.
Police stated that the auto-pedestrian accident happened around 1:10 p.m. on October 28, near 860 W Columbia Lane in Provo, within Brough Trailer Court.
Family members took the injured children to Utah Valley Hospital, where the three-year-old died from their injuries. The four-year-old was treated for minor injuries and is considered stable.
Currently, police do not believe that impairment was a factor in the crash, but the Traffic Team is continuing to investigate the incident.
“Our heartfelt condolences are with the family,” Provo Police stated.
