CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A curfew will be in effect on Halloween night for sex offenders across South Carolina, the SC Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services said.

Agents will enforce the curfew from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. The curfew applies to all individuals under supervision for a child sex offense.

The curfew does not apply, however, to registered sex offenders who are not on probation or parole. These individuals are not under SCDPPS’ jurisdiction.

All supervised sex offenders must remain at home during the specified time frame and will be under surveillance checks. Agents will conduct these checks on Halloween night.

All sex offenders under the curfew must have no porch or exterior lights on, cannot distribute candy, and must remain inside their homes.. They can not participate in any Halloween parties or carnivals.

In 2024, agents made four arrests and collected six cellphones on Halloween night.
