Sage Roots Spa provides energy work to give “emotional car wash”

Dallas (KDAF) — For Lauren Potter, Reiki isn’t just a healing practice, it’s a way of helping women reset their lives.

Potter, a Licensed Massage Therapist and Reiki Master, owns Sage Roots Women’s Spa in Dallas, where she blends traditional massage with energy work to create what she calls a “sacred space for women to heal; mind, body and spirit.”

“Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that clears blockages from the aura, which is your energy body, so you feel lighter, more balanced and free,” Potter said. 

“I like to call it an ‘emotional car wash,’” she said. 

During a Reiki session at Sage Roots, clients rest on a massage table while their therapist uses sage cleansing, crystal singing bowls, chakra balancing and guided meditation to ease tension. Potter said sessions often include intuitive messages about what is being released and what small changes could help clients step into better health and happiness.

“Your energy body holds everything you can’t see. Emotions, intuition, creativity, even past trauma,” Potter said. 

“When those energies get stuck, life feels heavy. Reiki clears that debris so women can move forward with clarity.”

Reiki is especially helpful, Potter said, for women experiencing life changes. From career shifts to relationship transitions or grief. Many of her clients turn to Reiki to process stress, anxiety or to connect with their sense of purpose.

Potter has practiced massage therapy for 18 years and established Sage Roots in 2014. Next month, the spa celebrates its 11th anniversary. The location on Belmont Avenue features a private courtyard retreat in the middle of the city.

Beyond one-on-one sessions, Potter teaches Reiki certification courses for women interested in becoming healers themselves. She offers Level One, Two and Master classes, each a four-week evening course.

“This is career education, but it’s also an incredible self-care tool,” she said. “Many women use Reiki to create a new income stream, while others take it to deepen their own healing journey.”
