Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer and Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman announced that the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force and Portsmouth PD SWAT team executed a “narcotics-related” search warrant shortly before 5 p.m. Monday at a home in Portsmouth.
Authorities say the search resulted in the seizure of approximately 390.81 grams of suspected fentanyl/opiates, 51.09 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a loaded firearm, digital scales, sandwich baggies, $1,673 in cash and “additional evidence of drug trafficking.” They say confiscated drugs have an estimated street value of $51,900.
During the search, Eric Tywan Johnson, 28, of Cincinnati, was arrested and charged with first-degree felonies of trafficking and possession of drugs.
In announcing the arrest, Brewer and Thoroughman said that anyone who wants to leave a tip about drug trafficking in southern Ohio can leave the Task Force an anonymous tip by calling 740-354-5656 or emailing drugs@sciotocountysheriff.com.
