TANGIPAHOA PARISH (WGNO) — A Hammond teenager is in police custody after allegedly bringing a gun on a school campus.
According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, on Oct. 27, the school’s resource officer at Hammond High School was alerted that a 16-year-old student, reportedly under the influence of drugs, allegedly had marijuana, THC and a vape in his school bag.
It was also discovered he was possibly in possession of a stolen handgun.
TPSO deputies said the student was arrested and all illegal items all were removed from the campus. The investigation led to the school being placed on brief lockdown, but deputies said no students were in danger.
