Crews respond to structure fire in Millcreek
MILLCREEK, Utah (ABC4) — Crews responded to a structure fire in Millcreek earlier this evening.
According to the Unified Fire Authority, a house caught fire on Adonis Drive in Millcreek shortly before 6:30 p.m. Public Information Officer Kelly Bird stated that crews from Millcreek, Holladay, and South Salt Lake Fire Department all responded.
At the time, officials raised it to a second alarm fire, which means that additional resources were called to the scene, because of the size of the home.
Bird stated that when crews responded, they found significant flames at the front of the building, which spread to parts of the ceiling and attic space. In total, the fire was actively burning for around twenty minutes.
The home also reportedly has a unique build, and firefighters had to take more time to clear the home and ensure the fire was fully knocked out. However, Bird said that the fire was fairly contained and that crews are now working through the structure and checking for hot spots.
There were residents at home when the fire started, but they were able to escape from the home. Additionally, nobody experienced any injuries, according to Bird. However, the home is temporarily uninhabitable due to the smoke and water damage.
He added that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
