SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Police in San Francisco are investigating a sexual battery against a child that occurred last week in Golden Gate Park, the department told KRON4 Monday.

Officers responded Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to the Polo Field area in the western half of the park after receiving a report of a sexual battery. According to investigators, a minor was victimized in the bathrooms near the field.

In response to the incident, the San Francisco Police Department said it has increased patrols in the Richmond District, increased ranger enforcement and added more cameras. The SF Recreation and Park Department said Tuesday that a park ranger is now stationed near the restrooms on weekday afternoons when youth teams are using the field.
