Bucks County Opportunity Council’s Adopt-a-Family Program Empowers You to Spread Holiday Cheer Locally

With the holiday season fast approaching, many families are preparing for their kids Christmas wish lists and trips to see Santa. There are many families, though, who feel the burden of costs that come with this time of year. This is where the Bucks County Opportunity Council comes in.

The BCOC, which is the lead anti-poverty, nonprofit organization in Bucks County, is once again offering their Adopt-a-Family program. The program, which has been running for over 20 years, is set up so that people already enrolled in BCOC programs and participating in this service get paired with donors to purchase gifts and gift cards for the holidays.

Donors decide how many families and/or individuals they would like to sponsor, sign up on the BCOC website, and are sent the names and ages of all family members and a donation form with instructions via email. The suggested donation value is $100 per family member and up. These are families who are actively working with a coach on the BCOC team to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Adults with no family or children are also available to sponsor, including seniors.

“The holiday support brought joy and relief during a time that can often be stressful, allowing me to focus on creating happy memories rather than worrying about finances,” said Ashley, a single mother who received donations through the Adopt-a-Family program. “This program lifted a weight off my shoulders and helped me get through. I am truly grateful for the support and kindness during these crucial times.”

The program is open and ready for sponsors with all donations due by Dec. 10. The link to sign up is also available here: http://weblink.donorperfect.com/AAFAMILY2025. For questions, please reach out to Danielle Bush, Volunteer and Community Connections Manager, at dbush(at)bcoc.org.
