Our 27 News Storm Track Weather team reports that Topeka saw a quarter inch of rain on the weekend of October 25, with showers lasting for hours. Two event coordinators said bad weather was responsible for a lower turnout.
“The rain effected the event quite a bit,” said Heather Quillin, organizer of the “Jeepers Creepers,” Trunk or Treat. “We had a lot of people back out. We tend to have about 55 to 60 jeep, we only had 35. It was cold and wet. We expected it and we went with it and just kept on rolling.”
“We had much fewer people show up to give out candy than we have in the past, but we had more children and parents come through than we’ve ever had before,” said Ben Hardee, First Baptist Church Pastor. “We had to make two different runs to the local Dillons down the street.”
Our Storm Track Weather team says Halloween should be clear, and the highs will be in the 50’s so you might want to bundle up in those costumes.
