According to the Rockford Police Department, officers with the Specialized Community Oriented Policing Enforcement (SCOPE) team spotted a stolen car in the 1100 block of Morgan Street around 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 23rd.
Authorities said they surveilled the car for a short time until it was driven from the scene by a 17-year-old male juvenile.
When police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the suspect got out and ran into a nearby house.
Police said both the teen and 25-year-old Akise Sturdivant were arrested, after Sturdivant was discovered to be in possession of over 5 grams of cocaine.
The teen faces charges of unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, criminal trespass to a vehicle, resisting arrest, and unlicensed driver.
Sturdivant was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
