Saints move to 1-7 after disappointing performance against Buccaneers

NEW ORLEANS, La. (KLFY)– Here is the latest news on the New Orleans Saints football game.

The Saints suffered a 23-3 loss against Tampa Bay on Sunday, marking their third consecutive loss against the Buccaneers.

The Saints struggled offensively, with quarterback Spencer Rattler being replaced by rookie Tyler Shough in the third quarter after a challenging performance. Rattler completed 15 of 21 passes for 136 yards and an interception before being pulled from the game.

“We’ll navigate this thing over the next 48 hours,” said Saints head coach Kellen Moore, who did not commit to a starting quarterback for the upcoming game against the Rams.

The game began with a turnover by the Saints as Spencer Rattler had the ball stripped and recovered by Tampa Bay in the first quarter. The Buccaneers capitalized on the Saints’ offensive mistakes, with Anthony Nelson intercepting Rattler off a tip and scoring in the second quarter, giving Tampa Bay a lead they would not relinquish.

In the third quarter, Sean Tucker extended the Buccaneers’ lead with a 1-yard rushing touchdown, making the score 14-3. Despite the Saints’ efforts to change their offensive strategy by bringing in Tyler Shough, the team was unable to mount a comeback.

Shough finished the game completing 17 of 30 passes for 128 yards and an interception. The Buccaneers’ defense proved formidable, limiting the Saints to only a field goal throughout the game.

The Saints now hold a 1-7 record for the season, facing uncertainty at the quarterback position as they prepare for their next game against the Rams in Inglewood.

With the loss, the Saints continue to face a challenging first season under Kellen Moore, and the decision regarding their starting quarterback remains unresolved as they look ahead to their matchup with Los Angeles who will be fresh off their bye-week.
