ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford man and three teens were arrested Sunday after they allegedly ran from police during a traffic stop, and handguns were found.

According to the Rockford Police Department, officers attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle around 7:25 p.m. near Elmwood and Garfield, but said the driver refused and drove away.

The car was later located in a driveway in the 1300 block of North Avenue. Four suspects ran from the car, police said, but officers were able to chase down and arrest two of them.

Police said two handguns, one with a laser light attachment and an extended magazine, were discarded by the fleeing suspects but recovered by officers.

Authorities later pulled over a car driven by Marques Henson, 19, who was determined to be the driver in the earlier incident. Both Henson and his 16-year-old male passenger were arrested.

Henson faces charges of aggravated fleeing to elude, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, no valid Firearm Owners Identification, resisting arrest, and traffic violations. He was booked into the Winnebago County Jail pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.

A 16-year-old male was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, no valid Firearm Owners’ Identification, and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Winnebago County Juvenile Detention Center.

Another 16-year-old male was charged with resisting arrest and released to a parent or guardian.

A 15-year-old male was also charged with resisting arrest and was released to a parent or guardian.
