PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Japanese Garden officially announced the peak of its fall color on Monday.

After a wet and windy weekend, Portland’s Japanese Maple trees have come out on the other side with their display of fall foliage. The pop of red, yellow, and orange is at peak level now and will likely last through the early part of November.

“Well, we say visit often, and you know, it’s because we want to see you here as much as possible. But the truth is, the landscape does really change from day to day. Especially if you miss a couple of days. You’ll come back and see it’s stunning. A tree will all of a sudden transform,” said Will Lerner, marketing and communications manager for the Portland Japanese Garden.

The longevity of the fall colors will come down to the weather over the next few weeks. Wet and windy weather could bring leaves down fast. Whereas dry and sunny weather with little wind will help leaves last slightly longer.
