Mass shooting at Lincoln University leaves 1 dead, 6 wounded
The gunfire started at about 9:30 Saturday night at Lincoln’s International Cultural Center just after the school’s football game.
Chester County officials say that one suspect has been arrested. He has been identified as Zecqueous Morgan-Thompson from Wilmington, Delaware. Action News at 10 on PHL17 reports that he was found with a gun on him, but it is not yet known if that gun was used in the shooting.
Morgan-Thompson is being held on $25,000 cash bail and is charged with carrying a concealed firearm without a license. The victim in the shooting is identified as Jujuan Jeffers, who is also from Wilmington, Delaware. Reports say that he was shot in the head and died just before midnight. Officials are also saying that Morgan-Thompson may not have acted alone.
Meanwhile, the president of Lincoln University released a statement, saying in part, “Gun violence happens far too often in our country, and we are heartbroken that Lincoln University and its students are among the latest victims of such senseless violence.”
Lincoln University has suspended classes for Monday and is providing counseling services throughout the week, according to the University.
The FBI is asking for tips and any videos related to the shooting. You can submit your tips or videos at the FBI website.
