LSU senior Dawson Lanclos says his part-time job across from the stadium gave him a unique vantage point of the most recent LSU vs. Texas A&M football game.
“The Tiger fans were real quiet, not a lot of A&M fans were in here, they wanted to stay in a great college football stadium and watch a blow-out. I want the Tigers to win, it’s real disappointing, a 6 and 6 season, is not where I thought we’d be,” Lanclos said.
With the news of Brian Kelly and Joe Sloan’s firings, LSU fans like Sophomore Devin Dicket say they’re eagerly looking forward to the change. Dicket says he’s tailgated with family and friends since pre-school, and the culture of LSU football means everything to him.
“I think I’m going to see a different team, not see a team that will roll over and just lose. It hurts when people spend their hard-earned money and time, and the coaching staff is not giving them what they once had with Miles or Coach O. I find the last couple of years – I find myself not having fun because it’s just not the same team. They used to dominate, they maybe didn’t have a great offense but it was just smash mouth – they could beat anybody lined up against them,” Dicket mentioned.
Now, fans say they’re remaining cautiously optimistic as they hope the team is taking steps toward a brighter future.
The Tigers get a much-needed “bye” week -so these students will have some time to digest the news.
