Level Up 31 work means lane restrictions, stoppages

CARMEL, Ind. – Drivers should expect lane restrictions and overnight stoppages this week as part of the Level Up 31 project.

Crews will complete a traffic switch, install barrier walls and move equipment that will be used for future construction, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Here’s what to expect for the rest of the week:

Monday, October 27

  • 10-minute stoppages possible at the westbound I-465 ramp to southbound Meridian Street from 11:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • 10-minute stoppages possible on southbound Meridian Street between 103rd Street and 96th Street from 11:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Tuesday, October 28

  • Northbound and southbound U.S. 31 between 96th Street and 116th Street will be reduced to two left lanes from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Northbound and southbound U.S. 31 will experience intermittent single-lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the I-465 overpass.

Wednesday, October 29

  • Northbound and southbound U.S. 31 between 96th Street and 116th Street will be reduced to two left lanes from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Northbound and southbound U.S. 31 will experience intermittent single-lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the I-465 overpass.

Thursday, October 30

  • Westbound 106th Street will be closed at U.S. 31 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Northbound and southbound U.S. 31 will experience intermittent single-lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the I-465 overpass.

Saturday, November 1

  • 20-minute stoppages possible on the I-465 eastbound ramp to U.S. 31 northbound from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. 

INDOT said the schedule depends on the weather and could shift based on the conditions outside. Drivers should plan ahead and follow posted signs in the construction area.
