GRANITE FALLS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is looking for the driver who allegedly seriously injured a bicyclist in Caldwell County.

Just before 10 a.m. on Friday, October 24, troopers responded to the hit-and-run on the 400 block of Dudley Shoals Road. Highway Patrol said the victim, a 47-year-old man, was riding a bike when he was struck by a vehicle, which caused him to drive off the road and hit a tree.

The man was ejected from the bike and later transported by helicopter to a medical center in Charlotte with serious injuries.

During the investigation, a passenger side mirror that possibly belongs to a 2014-2018 GMS Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado was found at the scene, officials said.
