“I take a lot of pride in it, it’s something I put a lot of effort into,” Walker said. “Like how I put effort into football and making the team better. It just helps me stay focused and be a great person.”
“Bruce embodies everything that we talk about as it relates to a true student-athlete,” Destrehan head football coach Marcus Scott said. “Whenever you have kids who have their priorities together and put their academics first and put the same effort on the field, it’s a joy as a coach to see it transpire.”
Along with his academic accomplishments, he takes pride in serving as a Destrehan student ambassador.
“It’s very important because I get to represent the school and help out with a lot of things like the underclassmen,” Walker said. “Helping them and teaching them about Destrehan pride. I take it very, very seriously.”
Walker is preparing for a future in mechanical engineering, a field he has been passionate about since a young age.
“Ever since I started working in the shop with my dad when I was eight, that built my interest in machines early on,” Walker said.
He hopes to go to Case Western Reserve University or Ohio State.
