Flood Watch continues for Houston, much of local Southeast Texas
A Flood Watch remains in effect for much of Southeast Texas through late Saturday night as a second round of heavy rain will cross the area starting this evening.
Rainfall Totals and Timing
Widespread rainfall totals from both round of rain could reach 2 to 4 inches, with isolated higher amounts of 4 to 6 inches possible, especially where storms stall or repeatedly move over the same areas.
Rainfall rates in the strongest storms could exceed 2 to 3 inches per hour, leading to flash flooding in low-lying or poorly drained spots.
Even though soils are dry after weeks of little rain, forecasters warn that intense rainfall rates could still lead to flooding on roads, small creeks, and bayous.
Where
The Flood Watch covers nearly all of Southeast Texas, including Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Brazoria, Galveston, Matagorda, Liberty, Polk, Walker, Waller, Wharton, and Washington counties, among others.
