Daytime highs will be in the mid 60s to low 70s on the coast, high 60s around the bay, and low to mid 70s inland. Overnight lows will be mostly in the low to mid 50s.
Bay Area residents may see fog along the coast and in some inland valleys early Friday morning as a shallow marine layer fills in overnight, forecasters say.
According to the NWS, there’s a 30 to 50% chance of fog developing before sunrise as surface temperatures cool and light winds combine with high pressure aloft. Conditions such as higher dew points, long overnight cooling, and calm winds are favorable for both advection and radiation fog, though forecasters caution it’s “not a slam dunk.”
The fog, if it forms, could slow down the Friday morning commute but should clear by around 10 a.m. Skies will otherwise stay mostly clear through the day, with high clouds increasing ahead of a cold front arriving Saturday, according to the NWS.
Friday’s highs will be a few degrees cooler than Thursday, though residents may be rewarded with a vivid sunset if the evening marine layer does not roll back in.
