(KRON) — A man who police say is a possible suspect in a series of sexual battery cases was arrested on Thursday in Redwood City. According to the Redwood City Police Department, officers arrested the suspect in connection to a sexual battery that occurred near Broadway and Jefferson Avenue at around 11:49 a.m.

The victim, police said, reported that while standing on the southwest corner of Broadway and Jefferson she was approached by a man on a bicycle. As he passed her, police said he reached out and grabbed the victim inappropriately before riding east on Jefferson.

Officers canvassed the area, located video surveillance of the subject and issued a Be On the Lookout (BOL) to patrol units. Officers located an individual matching the description in the 1000 block of Middlefield Road. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Luis Martinez Maldonado of Redwood City, was contacted and positively identified as being caught on surveillance video.

Police arrested Maldonado and investigators identified him as a suspect in three recent similar sexual batteries in Redwood City. In each of the cases, which occurred from July 2025 to present, the women were targeted in public.

Maldonado was booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility for sexual battery. Redwood City police believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
