Portland Pilots named to initial top 16 by Division I Men’s Soccer Committee

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Committee released its initial top 16 rankings over the weekend and had Portland in fourth ahead of the 2025 tournament.

A team that makes it into the top 16 rankings gets both a first-round bye and the chance to host at least one game in the postseason. The top four will also have a quarterfinal matchup at home during the tournament.

These initial rankings, however, are not the final list, but Portland appears to be in a good spot with only a few weeks left to go. The entire field for the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament will have 48 teams and is set to be revealed in November.

Portland is sitting at 10-0-3 on the year and 3-0-2 in WCC play. They travel to face Santa Clara on Oct. 25.
