Sebastian Xavier Olmedo, 19, was arrested and booked on almost 30 felony counts in connection with an alleged gang-related shooting that took place on May 25, 2025.
According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, Olmedo arrived at a residence near 400 North and Pamela Way along with other members of a criminal street gang. The group allegedly went to the location after learning that a female friend had been “brutally assaulted” by a rival gang member.
Members of the rival gang arrived at the house later, to which Olmedo opened fire along with another shooter. The two reportedly discharged a combined 24 rounds during the shooting. Police say multiple cars in the area were hit.
Court documents claim video footage captures Olmedo being “directly involved” in the shooting. It is unclear exactly how he was involved. However, a search warrant later led police to find a dissembled .45 caliber firearm and magazine, matching the caliber of ammunition used during the shooting.
There is no evidence that anyone was injured during the shooting.
Olmedo is expected to face felony charges including the felony discharge of a firearm, riot with a dangerous weapon, and aggravated assault, among others.
Police requested he be held without bail while awaiting trial.
