Katherine N. Curtis, 34, was booked on preliminary charges of unlawful dispensation of a controlled substance and dealing in a controlled substance by a practitioner, according to jail records.
The Drug Enforcement Administration said the arrest stemmed from an eight-month, multi-agency investigation involving DEA agents, the Carmel Police Department and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Investigators received information from several pharmacies that Curtis, a licensed nurse practitioner, was overprescribing medications and writing fraudulent prescriptions.
In some cases, she wrote the prescriptions using the names of other nurse practitioners, police said.
More than a dozen people reached out to FOX59/CBS4’s Angela Ganote to say Curtis scammed them. She’s accused of prescribing drugs ranging from ketamine to Adderall.
A former employee said her license was suspended, and documentation showed it was null and void.
According to a Secretary of State business search, Curtis owned Reclaim Wellness and Mind & Body Healthcare LLC in Carmel.
Authorities served search warrants at Curtis’s home and business on Thursday. She was arrested on Thursday morning, according to jail records.
The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final decision on charges.
