Melrose Avenue to transform into Netflix's ‘Stranger Things’ for street cycling event
Running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Nov. 23, the 64th CicLAvia event will connect Fairfax, Larchmont, Melrose Hill and East Hollywood.
The event invites fans to bike, skate or stroll through a stretch of Melrose reimagined as the world of “Stranger Things,” complete with immersive photo ops, live entertainment, giveaways and an exclusive content drop just days before Volume 1 of the show’s final season premieres.
Organizers are encouraging attendees to show up in full 1980s spirit, dressed as Hawkins heroes or villains, or simply decked out in neon, windbreakers and leg warmers. Participants can also take part in a themed quest along the route, earning collectible pins by completing activities for the chance to unlock additional surprises.
“This epic event is bringing fans together to bike, skate, or stroll along a car-free stretch of Melrose Avenue in celebration of the cultural phenomenon’s finale season,” CicLAvia said in its announcement.
CicLAvia is a nonprofit organization that aims to open streets to non-vehicle transportation, and has been organizing events across Los Angeles County since 2010.
The event is free and open to all ages and abilities. For full details, including route maps, restrictions and participation guidelines, click here.
The first half of the final season of “Stranger Things” premieres on Netflix on Nov. 26 at 5 p.m.
