The Election Rigging Response Act, more commonly known as Prop. 50 is Governor Gavin Newsom’s proposal to redraw California’s congressional lines. Newsom’s proposal is a direct response to President Donald Trump’s Texas redistricting plan, which increases Republican-controlled seats in Congress.

According to CalMatters, if a majority of Californians votes yes on the proposition, five Republican-controlled congressional districts would transform into districts that favor Democrats. The California districts impacted include: 1, 3, 22, 41 and 48.
