The advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, October 25, for much of the northern foothills and northwest Piedmont, including Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Iredell, McDowell, Rowan, Wilkes, and Stanly counties.
Overnight temperatures are expected to dip into the low to mid-30s, cold enough for frost to form on cars, rooftops, and especially in low-lying areas. Sensitive outdoor plants could be damaged or killed if left uncovered. Gardeners are encouraged to bring potted plants indoors or cover them with sheets or blankets before bedtime.
Friday will bring plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures, with highs around 69° in Charlotte and low humidity making for a pleasant afternoon. On Friday night, skies will stay clear, setting the stage for that frosty start.
Saturday will turn sunny again with highs in the upper 60s, and Sunday looks mostly cloudy but dry…perfect for pumpkin patches, football games, and fall festivals across the Carolinas.
Meanwhile, mountain areas will stay cooler, with highs only in the 50s and overnight lows well into the 30s, while a separate Freeze Warning remains in effect for higher elevations.
For those looking ahead, the weekend will feel like classic late October — crisp mornings, cool evenings, and beautiful fall color across the region.
