Arkansas Storm Team Blog: Drought continues...
The drought continues in much of Arkansas, as of the latest drought monitor on Thursday, October 23. Compared to last week, there’s very little change. The only update from the Drought Mitigation Center is a slight decrease in the Moderate Drought category (in light tan). This very small drop is reported from 45.1% of the state last week to 44.6% of the state this week in moderate drought.

Those in abnormally dry conditions, or the stage right before drought develops (in yellow), make up over 50% of the state. Extreme drought is inching towards the Arkansas and Missouri border, but remains firmly in Missouri (in red). Severe drought remains unchanged from last week in Arkansas, with 14.3% of the state in severe drought (in orange). The next drought monitor’s data collection period ends on Tuesday, October 28, at 7 a.m., so it will include this weekend’s rain. The next drought monitor will be released by the Drought Mitigation Center on Thursday, October 30, at 7 a.m.
