Officials said they learned someone had been receiving benefits in the name of a LASERS member who has been dead since August 2020.

Investigators said Mullins, the deceased retiree’s nephew, defrauded LASERS of more than $33,000 between August 2020 and December 2024.

LBI agents arrested Mullins Tuesday. He was booked without incident into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Bond details were not released.

The investigation is ongoing.
