YMCA of Topeka hosts ‘Trunk or Treat’

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The YMCA of Topeka hosted a ‘Trunk or Treat’ event tonight for families within the community.

Families at the event could grab candy from decorated cars, play games and participate in other Halloween-themed activities. Appearances were made by the local fire department and the Topeka Scarecrows’ mascot.

One employee from the YMCA loves to see the holiday spirit come alive throughout the community.

“I think I’m still a child at heart, and I love children,” said Susan Patterson, a lifeguard at Topeka’s YMCA. “We have so many programs that are wonderful for kids, and they’re low cost, no cost so we encourage everyone to come out.”

If you missed out on tonight’s event, there are still plenty of similar events in the coming days.

The Hyvee on SW Wanamaker is hosting a ‘Trunk or Treat’ Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Capital Gymnastics is hosting on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Topeka Bible Church will hold an event on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
